Follow the journeys of inspiring Australians determined to carve their own niche by building their own homes, in the fourth instalment of the popular LifeStyle Channel programme, Grand Designs Australia. Architect Peter Maddison is back in the hosting seat racking up the frequent flyer points covering diverse projects up and down the country. From a curvy space age house on Victoria’s Gippsland coast, he travels north to Sydney’s inner suburb of Forest Lodge where a visionary owner builder is breaking new ground in sustainable architecture. Then he’s inland on the NSW Central Tablelands where a large sheep station is playing host to a brand new family homestead – seems it’s nearly as windswept there at Ilford as it is on rugged King Island in Bass Strait. In this remote and exposed location yet more hardy souls are facing down the elements and building their dream home. It’s fascinating stuff and as Peter learns once again, each project is as unique and interesting as the owners themselves.
