Description

Based on Liane Moriarty's bestselling book, this subversive, darkly comedic drama series tells the tale of three mothers of first-graders whose seemingly perfect lives unravel to the point of murder. Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman and Shailene Woodley head up a stellar cast in this Monterey-set drama that begins with a suspicious homicide at an elementary-school fundraiser. Though the victim and the perpetrator initially remain a mystery, it appears that the murder was spawned by rivalries and secrets surrounding the trio of young moms. Alexander Skarsgard, Laura Dern, Adam Scott, Zoe Kravitz, James Tupper and Jeffrey Nordling co-star.

I wasn't expecting to be hooked but it got me immediately. Every performance was spot on....the story was simple yet intriguing, and non of it seemed at all farfetched.

I really enjoyed the book but I found the tv adaptation so disappointing and a bit lame. READ the book first the characters personalities are much stronger and more courageous.

Was expecting something wonderful after all the hype - empty shallow drivel, poor acting, don’t let the big names pull you in - they will just let you down - I’ve seen better acting watching the cameras in the Houses of Parliament! Seriously, save your money and head for London!
  • Ridiculously Good

Amazing programme. Great soundtrack and superb acting all round but especially from Reece Witherspoon who is brilliant. Definitely a “squeeze one more in” even though it’s 2 in the morning kind of series. Highly recommended, the final episode is beyond gripping.
  • Very slow

It has beautiful scenery and good acting but it is so slooooooww. The pace of a snail - I am not gripped at all.
  • Was looking forward to this, but it's only OK.

After reading some reviews and seeing Nicole Kidman talk about the show on TV, I was really looking forward to watching this. Unfortunately it's only OK 3/5. The performances are strong and it's nice to see such a good cast brought together. However the story arch for the entire season is only really long enough to fill a couple of episodes but is stretched over seven. The script is also pretty clunky in places, with even these amazing actors struggling to deliver some of the lines. This makes a lot of the scenes pretty cringe worthy and hard to watch. Hopefully, for season two they can invest in some more writers.
