Description

WHAT RICHARD DID follows Richard Karlsen (a stunning breakthrough performance by Jack Reynor), golden-boy athlete and undisputed alpha-male of his privileged set of South Dublin teenagers, through the summer between the end of school and the beginning of university. Richard’s world is bright and everything seems possible, until one summer night when love, pride and jealousy cause Richard to commit an act that will shatter the lives of those closest to him… Featuring extraordinary performances from its mainly young cast, WHAT RICHARD DID is a quietly devastating, award-winning (Best Original Screenplay - Evening Standard Film Awards 2013) study of honesty, morality and responsibility from the immensely talented Lenny Abrahamson (Frank, Adam & Paul).

Interesting premise, but so boringly told. Didn't think it really depicted the devastating consequences of his actions at all. He remained unpunished.

Thought provoking piece of social realism. Intense, brilliantly acted and leaves you to judge.

Thoughtful, well-acted, disturbing film that stays with you long after its over. Would recommend.

Simple thought provoking film. Left me with lingering emotions that films rarely do nowadays. Beautiful.

Great acting, great filming, great setting - why such a morbid stroyline ? - what a waste - very watchable though.

John Reynor is great in his role of Richard. I have watched the movie twice and was fascinated by the story. It could have been more in depth and closer to Kevin Power's book "Bad day at Blackrock" on which the movie is based. Worth reading.

Don't be fooled - this is a boring load of crap. I ended up fast-forwarding it to the end. I would happily have paid not to have wasted my time with it. To look at some of the reviews, you'd think this was a good drama. No tension, no action, no point to any of it. You'd have a better time watching someone else's table at the pub, and I am not kidding. There should be a zero star rating...

Good film and could recommend but not as good as I had perceived from other reviews. I found it a bit cliched and perhaps most enjoyable for young people. Worth a watch for something with a real story line though.
