From Jill Soloway, creator of the hit show TRANSPARENT, Afternoon Delight is the story of Rachel, a stay-at-home mom who becomes obsessed with saving a stripper named McKenna. Rachel is quick-witted and loveable, yet tightly coiled. A thirty-something year old steeped in the creative class of Los Angeles' bohemian, affluent Silver Lake neighbourhood. On the surface, everything appears just right. She has a chic modernist home, successful husband, adorable child and a hipster wardrobe. However when she visits a strip club to spice up her marriage, she receives a private dance from McKenna and something inside her cracks. Rachel returns to the club, gets to know McKenna and subsequently adopts her as a live-in nanny. This move unleashes unimagined and colourful waves of change into Rachel's life, marriage and her community.

  • A delight!

This movie is an unexpected indie gem. Kathryn Hahn and Juno Temple are fantastic. It is a very low-key film, but packs and emotional punch.

First world problems 101! A bored suburban wife exploits a young stripper to fill the void in her own life and is shocked and hurt when it all blows up in her face.

Loved this one - read a review about it being a hidden gem. Totally right. Can’t believe this wasn’t bigger in cinemas. Loved it!!!!!
  • Great film!

Although it's more of a drama than a comedy, this film is entertaining. Kind of kept you in suspense. Great acting all round especially by Josh Radnor.
  • Great fun!

Love Josh Radnor on HIMYM but have never been a huge fan of Kathryn Hahn. How wrong I was!!! From the first 5mins in I was totally with this movie and loved where it went by the end. Juno Temple is great as the stripper too.
  • Not a Comedy

Reminds me of some of Cassavetes' films. Not really a comedy or a romance; more like a melodrama with some realism thrown in. Starts out lite and becomes heavier. However this is a 'gem' and both Kathryn Hahn and Juno Temple shine in this. my suspicion is that this was badly marketed because the dark elements sure are not pink (like the poster). Great film, with a misleading title.

The film and the story is good, but I’d say its a drama, not a comedy...
  • Poor and Uninteresting

Not a good film, some good acting, that's why it got one star! I'd give it a miss and watch a genuinely funny film. Baffled as to why this is supposedly funny movie is in the Comedy section on iTunes Store. Not recommended ! 🐸
  • Where's SUBTITLES?
